Founding Business Development Representative

WeaveSan Francisco, CA
Onsite

About The Position

Weave is seeking its first Business Development Representative (BDR) to establish a repeatable outbound engine for the company. The role involves initiating conversations with CTOs and VPs of Engineering who are under pressure to demonstrate the ROI of AI coding tools. The BDR will research target accounts, craft compelling messaging, and create qualified pipeline. This is a hands-on role where the individual will work closely with founders and the GTM team, test market messaging, and develop the outbound playbook for future hires. The position reports to the CEO, Adam, and involves daily collaboration with the Founding GTM Engineer and marketing lead.

Requirements

  • Comfort on the phone, capable of initiating cold calls, asking pertinent questions, listening effectively, and securing next steps.
  • Strong writing and research skills, with the ability to identify a genuine reason to contact an account and articulate it concisely.
  • Curiosity about software development, including how engineering teams operate, the impact of AI coding tools, and how technical leaders evaluate new software.
  • Good judgment regarding quality, prioritizing booking the right meetings over achieving vanity activity metrics.
  • Resilience and follow-through, with the ability to handle rejection, maintain high standards, and stay organized across a large account set.
  • Startup readiness, including comfort with testing ideas, working without a pre-defined playbook, and making progress visible.
  • Ability to work in person from the San Francisco office five days a week.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of outbound SDR or BDR experience in B2B software, with a proven track record of booking qualified meetings.
  • Experience prospecting into developer tools, infrastructure, engineering analytics, or similar technical categories.
  • Familiarity with CTOs, VPs of Engineering, or engineering managers as buyers.
  • Experience at an early-stage startup or in establishing a new outbound motion.
  • Hands-on experience with tools like Clay, HubSpot, or lemlist.
  • A genuine interest in AI coding tools and their impact on software teams.

Responsibilities

  • Create qualified pipeline by researching target accounts, identifying engineering leaders, and converting cold accounts into booked meetings for AEs and founders.
  • Write outbound messaging that sounds human, focusing on account-specific content across email, phone, LinkedIn, and other channels, avoiding generic sequences.
  • Engage at engineering leadership events and dinners, initiating conversations and promptly following up to convert interest into pipeline.
  • Build the outbound playbook by testing personas, segments, hooks, objections, and channels, documenting successful strategies for replication.
  • Close the feedback loop by relaying prospect insights to founders, marketing, and product teams weekly.

Benefits

  • Compensation: $80,000 base plus a target variable of $40,000 for an OTE of $120,000.
  • Meaningful early equity.
  • Full health coverage.
  • Meals in the office.
  • Yearly team offsite.
  • $500 learning stipend.
