About The Position

The Business Development Representative (BDR) serves as a key ambassador for the Credit Union with a primary focus on building relationships within the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) community. This role is responsible for driving membership growth, strengthening community partnerships, and expanding the Credit Union’s presence through targeted outreach, on-site engagement, and strategic relationship management. The BDR develops and maintains relationships with union leadership, members, and affiliated organizations while promoting Credit Union products, services, and financial wellness initiatives. This position blends relationship management, field-based outreach, and business development strategy to support sustainable growth and member engagement. The BDR is based out of the ILWU Credit Union Long Beach headquarters and is expected to conduct business development activities at the ILWU locals in the Southern California region.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and expand relationships with ILWU officials, members, and key community stakeholders
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to grow membership, deposits, loans, and overall product utilization
  • Manage a portfolio of members and business relationships, providing proactive outreach and ongoing engagement
  • Conduct in-person visits, presentations, and outreach activities to promote Credit Union services
  • Serve as a trusted liaison between the Credit Union and the Southern California ILWU community
  • Plan and execute on-site promotions, financial literacy workshops, and informational sessions
  • Represent the Credit Union at union meetings, community events, and industry gatherings
  • Coordinate and support public relations efforts, including branch events, grand openings, and community initiatives
  • Achieve established business development and membership growth goals
  • Identify member needs and recommend appropriate products and services
  • Cross-sell Credit Union offerings and refer opportunities to internal partners (lending, operations, etc.)
  • Track and report on business development activities, pipeline, and outcomes
  • Provide insights and recommendations to leadership on market opportunities, member needs, and service improvements
  • Support regional business development planning and execution
  • Identify trends and opportunities to enhance member experience and profitability
