About The Position

The Business Development Managing Director or Partner is a senior growth leader responsible for originating new business, expanding strategic relationships, and driving revenue growth across the Firm’s targeted industry segments. This individual will lead all aspects of the business development lifecycle, including strategic prospect identification, direct outreach, relationship development, opportunity qualification, pursuit strategy, proposal development, and closing new business. The Managing Director or Partner will work closely with Firm leadership, Partners, industry leaders, and service-line leaders to identify opportunities and develop coordinated strategies to grow the Firm’s market presence and client base. The successful candidate will bring a demonstrated track record of originating, developing, and closing significant business opportunities within targeted industries, supported by an established network of senior executives, business owners, financial sponsors, and centers of influence. This individual will serve as a highly credible and visible representative of the Firm in the marketplace, with the ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with C-suite executives and other key decision-makers. The ideal candidate will leverage these relationships, along with a strong understanding of industry dynamics and client needs, to identify opportunities, generate new business, and drive sustainable revenue growth for the Firm. As an enterprise-level business development leader, the Managing Director or Partner will represent the full breadth of the Firm’s capabilities rather than a single service line and will connect prospective and existing clients with the appropriate professionals and solutions across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or relevant professional credentials preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive business development, sales, or client relationship experience, with a demonstrated track record of successfully originating and closing new business within accounting, consulting, financial services, or another professional services environment.
  • Proven success selling complex, relationship-driven professional services — not products — to middle-market and larger organizations.
  • Demonstrated history of generating meaningful new revenue through proactive prospecting, relationship development, referrals, networking, and centers of influence.
  • Established and transferable network of senior executives, business owners, private equity professionals, bankers, attorneys, wealth advisors, consultants, and other centers of influence that can be leveraged to identify and develop new business opportunities.
  • Strong relationships and demonstrated experience working with C-suite executives and other senior-level decision-makers within the middle market.
  • Proven ability to identify, cultivate, and convert prospective relationships into qualified opportunities and long-term client relationships.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex, consultative sales processes involving multiple stakeholders, service professionals, and decision-makers, primarily at the C-suite and executive level.
  • Ability to understand a prospective client’s business objectives, challenges, and needs and effectively connect those needs to the Firm’s appropriate services and subject-matter experts.
  • Demonstrated ability to represent and sell a broad portfolio of professional services across multiple service lines rather than focusing exclusively on a single offering.
  • Strong understanding of the middle-market business environment and the issues affecting privately held companies, public companies, private equity-backed organizations, entrepreneurs, and business owners.
  • Ability to develop and execute strategic account and territory plans, including prospect identification, prioritization, relationship mapping, pursuit strategies, and pipeline development.
  • Proven ability to build, manage, and advance a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities while maintaining disciplined follow-up throughout lengthy and complex sales cycles.
  • Strong business acumen and commercial judgment, with the ability to assess the quality, strategic value, revenue potential, and likelihood of success of prospective opportunities.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with Partners, Principals, practice leaders, industry leaders, and subject-matter experts to develop and execute coordinated pursuit strategies.
  • Experience identifying opportunities to cross-sell and introduce additional services to existing clients and prospects.
  • Strong market presence with demonstrated involvement in relevant industry associations, professional organizations, networking groups, conferences, and business communities.
  • Exceptional executive presence and the ability to credibly represent the Firm with senior executives, business owners, referral sources, and other influential members of the business community.
  • Excellent relationship-building, influencing, negotiation, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Highly motivated, entrepreneurial, self-disciplined, and results-oriented, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability for business development and revenue goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while successfully navigating and collaborating within a highly matrixed, partnership-driven professional services organization.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple prospects, pursuits, relationships, and internal stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt business development strategies in response to changing market conditions and Firm priorities.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and a commitment to maintaining accurate and timely pipeline, prospect, and business development activity.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
