About The Position

The Business Development Manager will be a key member of the Copperweld Utilities sales team, focused on supporting growth across the Power Grid product portfolio. This role will be responsible for developing new business opportunities, driving specification-based sales efforts, and expanding Copperweld’s presence within the public and investor-owned utility market. In addition, this role will also focus on developing business opportunities in the Utility Scale Renewable Wind and Solar markets. The ideal candidate will build and maintain relationships with Electric Utilities, EPCs, engineering firms, Distributors, Municipalities, Cooperatives, and Contractors while serving as a front-line representative of the Copperweld brand. This position will work closely with customers and industry stakeholders to increase product specifications, support project opportunities, and drive long-term market growth within the assigned region. The Business Development Manager will report directly to the Director of Sales – Power Grid and will require regular travel throughout an assigned territory. The territory for the position is California, Arizona, and New Mexico.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in outside sales, business development, utility sales, industrial sales, or electrical infrastructure markets preferred.
  • Exposure to utility, EPC, manufacturer representative, construction, or specification-driven sales environments strongly preferred.
  • Strong presentation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a territory independently.
  • Analytical mindset with adaptability and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems preferred.
  • Ability to travel as needed, with travel expectations of 50%+ of the time.

Responsibilities

  • Support territory growth initiatives across Copperweld’s Power Grid product portfolio.
  • Build strong relationships and communicate effectively with utilities, EPCs, distributors, engineering firms, and contractors.
  • Drive specification adoption and expand Copperweld product presence within utility and utility scale renewable energy markets.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities within the assigned region.
  • Support strategic account development and territory growth plans.
  • Cultivate partnerships with distributors and manufacturer representative agencies to expand market reach.
  • Represent Copperweld at industry trade shows, customer meetings, and technical events.
  • Stay current on industry standards, market trends, utility infrastructure activity, and competitive landscape.
  • Maintain CRM activity, pipeline updates, and territory reporting.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, engineering, customer service, and leadership teams to support customer needs and business objectives.
  • Other job duties as assigned.
