About The Position

SSAI is seeking a Business Development Manager with a strong background in the Department of Defense (DoD) and defense sector. This role is focused on driving new business growth—not operations management. We are looking for a proven, high-performing sales professional who can identify, pursue, and win new opportunities, expand market presence, and directly contribute to revenue growth. This is an onsite role based in Lanham, MD.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) and a minimum of 10 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 8 years of business development or sales experience, with a strong focus on DoD/defense sector
  • Demonstrated success in winning new business and growing revenue
  • Deep understanding of federal contracting and acquisition processes
  • Established network within the DoD and defense community
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to work independently with a results-driven, hunter mentality

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with federal contract vehicles and procurement strategies
  • Familiarity with SSAI’s core domains: science, engineering, and technology services
  • Active security clearance (preferred but not required)

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute business development and sales strategies targeting DoD and defense-related agencies
  • Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities, contracts, and partnerships
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers in the defense sector
  • Drive the full capture lifecycle, from opportunity identification through proposal and award
  • Develop and implement win strategies for competitive procurements
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align technical capabilities with customer needs
  • Maintain a robust pipeline of opportunities to meet or exceed revenue targets
  • Represent SSAI at industry events, conferences, and client meetings
