About The Position

ASSA ABLOY is growing and to support that growth, we are adding a Business Development Manager to our team. This is an on-site role based at our Ontario, California (Inland Empire) location. This role will support both Northern and Southern California markets. The Business Development Manager will play a critical role in driving strategic growth by identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities. They will help translate customer needs into engineered solutions, collaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders, and act as a voice of the customer within the organization. The role involves taking ownership of a defined regional market and becoming the go-to expert for custom-engineered door and frame solutions, helping to shape project success from concept through completion with a sharp focus on moving the business forward. The position also requires developing and implementing business development strategies targeting new and existing customers, building and maintaining strategic relationships that promote strong profitability and organic growth, executing strategic initiatives as identified by Regional Door Group Leadership, and being a crucial part of an aggressive go-to-market strategy. Collaboration with internal teams (DSS, Engineering, Estimating, Order Entry, Customer Care, and Operations) is essential to ensure proposals are accurate, competitive, and aligned with capabilities, with the goal of winning business and solving complex customer challenges. The role also includes facilitating educational, training, and product knowledge opportunities for internal and external customers, working with internal architectural teams to identify, train, educate, and develop strategic relationships with key architectural firms, and developing or clearly articulating an intimate understanding of Division 8. Market research to identify trends, new markets, and competitive insights is also a key responsibility, as is proactively engaging and building long-term relationships with architects, contractors, distributors, and other decision-makers in the custom-building materials space. Representing the company at trade shows, industry events, and customer visits to promote capabilities and generate leads, maintaining accurate CRM records, pipeline reports, and performance metrics to track progress toward sales goals, and developing/contributing to proactive solutions around pricing strategies and value propositions in alignment with product management and leadership are also part of the role. The Business Development Manager will champion the company's brand and customer-first mindset while supporting long-term partnerships and repeat business while protecting profit margins. Additional projects and assignments as needed, and assuring compliance with federal, state, local regulations, as well as corporate policies, AADG programs and the ASSA ABLOY Code of Conduct are also required.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, Marketing, Business or a related field preferred or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience will also be considered.
  • 5+ years of experience in business development, sales, or account management, preferably in a custom manufacturing or engineered-to-order environment.
  • Strong understanding of building materials, construction cycles, and specification-driven sales.
  • Demonstrated ability to open new doors, close strategic deals, and manage a technical sales process.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and ability to analyze market data to inform strategy.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time to support customer engagement and industry networking.
  • Strong teamwork orientation, thriving in a collaborative environment that achieves both individual and collective goals.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize projects under tight time deadlines.
