About The Position

This external relationship management role is responsible for promoting Manulife Bank’s full range of products and services, acting as a liaison between the bank, customers, and advisors. The Business Development Manager will align customer and advisor needs with the bank's innovative technology, product, and service solutions. The ideal candidate is a consultative and engaging ambassador for the bank's products, possessing strong banking knowledge to help clients understand and manage their money effectively, ultimately helping Canadians achieve their financial goals. The role involves developing, maintaining, and expanding advisor/referral relationships within a specified geographic territory, optimizing product and service delivery, and collaborating with other Manulife representatives to promote debt management, loan, and deposit solutions.

Requirements

  • University degree or equivalent proven experience
  • 5 or more years of banking/credit experience
  • Business planning and territory management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to persuade and negotiate through consultation and active listening skills
  • Diplomacy and conflict management skills to mitigate resistance and ensure adherence to company policies and compliance standards
  • Effective presentation skills and delivery to small and large groups
  • Proven ability to be innovative in sales strategies, marketing concepts and product applications
  • Valid driver’s license and a vehicle

Nice To Haves

  • Completed or working towards industry designation – AMP etc is preferred
  • Knowledge of Manulife Investments and life insurance products an asset

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and expand advisor/referral relationships within a specified geographic territory through regular strategic contact/meetings articulated in your annual business plan.
  • Optimize delivery of valuable products, service and advice while improving sales efforts through consultation and demonstrating the merits of coordinated Bank products and services with the advisor’s traditional insurance and money products-based business.
  • Develop, organize, and deliver proposals, business cases and case analysis to advisors.
  • Share best practices and collaborate with other Manulife Bank Business Development Managers across the organization while delivering on organizational efficiencies by highlighting opportunities for improvement in existing products and services.
  • Partner with other Manulife wealth, insurance and group representatives to build advisor interests in Manulife Bank debt management, loan and deposit solutions.
