About The Position

BMS is seeking a relationship-driven sales professional to support growth across Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. This role is focused on developing and strengthening relationships with prospective and existing customers, creating long-term opportunities through consistent engagement, presenting tailored solutions and achieving sales goals. This role demands excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, along with a relationship mindset. Our sales cycle is relationship-based and can be extensive. Success in this role comes from trust, credibility, and maintaining a strong presence in the markets we serve.

Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies.
  • Ability to build trust and develop relationships.
  • Ability to practice effective listening skills and utilize them to compile/prepare reports based on discoveries from meetings.
  • Driven to achieve sales targets and thrive in a competitive environment. Self-motivated with a consistent and disciplined approach
  • Technical Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Keyboarding, as well as familiarity with CRM Systems and sales tools.
  • Organized and able to manage multiple ongoing relationships/projects while including all details of these items.

Responsibilities

  • Identify potential customers through networking, research, referrals or inquiries and build/maintain relationships with prospects and existing customers
  • Engage consistently through outreach, follow-up, and in-person interaction
  • Develop a strong understanding of customer needs and challenges and present products/services to meet those needs – highlighting key benefits and value
  • Position BMS as a trusted, long-term partner
  • Travel regularly throughout North Carolina, and South Carolina, with additional visits in Virginia as needed.
  • Visit customer locations and maintain a consistent presence in key markets – scheduling calls and visits using the CRM for tracking of all touchpoints.
  • Represent BMS in meetings, site visits, and day-to-day interactions
  • Identify, attend, and actively participate in industry conferences and association events
  • Research and provide new conference positioning to the team for review
  • Build relationships with decision-makers in municipal and related sectors
  • Leverage events to generate new opportunities and strengthen existing relationships
  • Coordinate with internal teams to maximize BMS’s presence and follow-up - using the CRM.
  • Manage and maintain an active pipeline in CRM (Monday.com)
  • Track interactions, updates, and next steps across opportunities
  • Ensure visibility into pipeline activity and progression
  • Support movement of opportunities from early engagement through qualification
  • Work closely with internal teams to align on opportunities
  • Share insights from the field to inform strategy and positioning
  • Support transition of opportunities into proposal and execution phases
