Requirements

  • Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Marketing, or Business degrees; active membership in current industry specific associations.
  • Proven experience in business development, sales, or a similar role, preferably in a startup environment.
  • 5+ years’ experience in developing and sustaining business relationships.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive and self-motivated approach.
  • Scientific communication skills documenting and presenting work to both public, scientific, continued education audiences.
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations related to water and water pollution control.

  • Understanding and/or experience of AI and/or ML statistical techniques
  • Exposure to Decision Quality processes
  • Fluent with Microsoft Office Suite productivity tools such as TEAMS, OneNote, Word, Excel, and Power Point as a minimum
  • Proficiency in CRM Systems (e.g. Salesforce)
  • Experience in relationship-building and sustainability

Responsibilities

  • Formulate and implement business strategies to establish and expand the company’s market presence.
  • Actively seek out avenues to promote and execute strategies.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the company’s products/services to effectively communicate value to prospective and existing clients.
  • Build and maintain relationships with potential clients, partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Lead sales initiatives, negotiations, and closing deals to meet and exceed sales targets.
  • Ensure client satisfaction and manage ongoing relationships for repeat business and referrals.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders including other departments like marketing, product development, engineering, service, and finance to align business development strategies.
  • Track and report on business development activities and results, providing insights for continuous improvement and identifying trends.
  • Research thorough market analysis to identify new opportunities and understand the competitive landscape.
  • Continuously seek innovative ways to improve the business development process and service offerings of the company.
