About The Position

Accountable is seeking a driven individual to drive referral growth in Southern California. This role can be filled at the Manager or Director level, depending on the candidate's experience and proven track record. The core mission and operational style remain consistent across all levels, with scope, compensation, and title adjusting to match experience. The company, Accountable, is an online peer recovery provider that has supported over 10,000 individuals since 2020. They offer services nationwide, are in-network with national health plans, and were founded by individuals in recovery. Their program centers on weekly sessions with peer coaches who have lived recovery experience, with additional support through messaging care teams. The platform includes verified at-home toxicology, care coordination with treatment programs and referring clinicians, and family support. For referring partners, a portal facilitates easy handoffs and provides real-time updates on toxicology results and engagement through a recovery dashboard. The platform is HIPAA-compliant.

Requirements

  • Reside in Southern California.
  • Hold a valid driver's license and have reliable transportation.
  • Be comfortable with a job that requires significant time outside the office.
  • Possess a strong understanding of the language and landscape of the treatment world (detox, residential, PHP, IOP, outpatient, MAT, sober living, and recovery support).
  • Understand how people pay for and access care, including private pay and insurance coverage, to accurately answer cost-related questions.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet and exceed sales targets, with the capacity to explain the underlying strategy.
  • Ability to communicate credibly with diverse professionals, including clinical directors, attorneys, and concerned family members.
  • Disciplined approach to CRM usage, with same-day logging as a standard practice.
  • Independent work ethic without being territorial; willingness to share relationships and contribute to the overall outreach team's success.
  • Desire to be managed on outcomes, with a preference for weekly performance reviews and field-based leadership.
  • Manager Level: 5+ years of business development or outreach experience in behavioral health, addiction treatment, post-acute care, or healthcare services, with knowledge of a discharge planner's role.
  • Manager Level: Established referral relationships in the Southern California market or a proven ability to rapidly build them elsewhere.
  • Director Level: All Manager level qualifications, plus established trust and relationships within the Southern California treatment community capable of producing qualified referrals within the first quarter.
  • Director Level: Experience opening a new market or building a territory from an early stage, with the ability to articulate past strategies, channels, successes, and lessons learned.

Responsibilities

  • Build and execute a territory plan with the leadership team for the Southern California market, segmenting referral sources and prioritizing accounts.
  • Focus on building relationships with treatment centers (detoxes, residential, PHP/IOP, outpatient, sober living) and their associated discharge planners, case managers, admissions teams, clinical leaders, and alumni coordinators.
  • Develop relationships within the clinical community, including therapists, addiction medicine and psychiatry practices, primary care physicians, and hospital social workers.
  • Expand into legal and monitoring channels such as interventionists, professional monitoring programs, drug courts, DUI and family law attorneys, probation, and parole.
  • Pursue employer and community accounts like EAPs, safety-sensitive employers, and recovery community organizations as per the plan.
  • Engage in consultative selling, understanding referrer needs before pitching and honestly assessing if Accountable is the right fit.
  • Conduct in-services and lunch-and-learns, and participate in relevant coalition meetings, professional events, and conferences.
  • Maintain close communication with every referral, ensuring fast handoffs, closing the loop with partners, and protecting the company's reputation.
  • Log all activity, opportunities, and market intelligence in the CRM on the same day.
  • Share insights and learnings with the outreach team, including effective messaging, competitor activities, and successful or unsuccessful approaches.
  • Adhere to Accountable's compliance standards in all referral relationships.
