About The Position

Our client in Washington DC is immediately hiring for a Business Development Manager to join their team. This is a full time permanent role and pay will vary based on years of experience. Qualified candidates will have an interview scheduled within 48 hours of resume submission.

Requirements

  • 5–10+ years of business development, sales, or capture experience within the construction or related industry
  • Experience working in general contracting or design-build environments
  • Established network within the DC metro construction market, including relationships with contractors, developers, and/or public agencies
  • Proven track record of building a pipeline and contributing to or securing awarded work
  • Familiarity with RFP/RFQ processes and the full construction lifecycle (preconstruction through completion)
  • Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to operate in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment

  • Strong understanding of government contracting and public-sector pursuits

Responsibilities

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the DC, Maryland, and Virginia construction market
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies (federal, state, local), developers, property managers, and commercial clients
  • Develop partnerships with subcontractors and industry partners to support project pursuits
  • Monitor and track upcoming RFPs, RFQs, and bid opportunities across public and private sectors
  • Lead pipeline development, opportunity qualification, and pursuit strategy
  • Collaborate with internal estimating and project teams on proposal development, bid strategies, and preconstruction efforts
  • Represent the company at industry events, networking functions, and pre-bid meetings
  • Maintain accurate CRM tracking of leads, pursuits, and business development activities
  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to support growth strategy
  • Ensure alignment across teams to effectively position and win new work
