About The Position

The Director of Business Development will possess excellent interpersonal communication skills and strong leadership/coordination acumen. They will be responsible for aggressively prospecting, identifying, qualifying, developing, and securing construction management and design-build business opportunities to support the company's revenue growth. This is a hands-on management position requiring flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. A strategic understanding of AEC sales processes and business operations is mandatory. Know the Texas Market, have aerospace, food and beverage, advanced manufacturing and/or mission critical background.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree in business administration, communications, marketing, construction, or a similar technical-related field.
  • 8-10 years of business development experience with 3-5 years of this experience being in the construction industry (i.e., General Contractor, Construction Manager, Design-Builder, etc.) is preferred.
  • Previous sales experience in Life Sciences, Aviation + Aerospace, and/or Industrial + Manufacturing, Food & Beverage and Data center markets is preferred.
  • Experience must be substantiated through recent and existing client relationships.
  • Experience supported by an in-depth understanding of the various stages of qualifications-based proposal/presentation methods (e.g., Design-Build, Construction Management at Risk, etc.), is preferred.
  • Able to work well with and persuade people at all levels of an organization.
  • Works well in a group environment and fosters a team-first approach/mindset.
  • Seeks ways to provide mutual internal support to others.
  • Able to establish SMART goals and achieve them (i.e., Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-Bound).
  • Able to plan, prioritize, organize, multi-task, and monitor activities and opportunities.
  • Excellent oral presentation and written skills.
  • Understands the services they are selling evidenced by an ability to draft/edit/review written proposal content.
  • Openly shares/communicates all known sales lead information with their business development team members.
  • Willingness to travel as required for client meetings and industry events.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Identify New Opportunities: Proactively seek out and identify potential business opportunities in the commercial construction industry.
  • Relationship Building: Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, suppliers, and industry professionals.
  • Strategic Planning: Create and implement strategic plans to achieve business growth and market expansion.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct thorough market research to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive landscape.
  • Sales Leadership: Lead and mentor the business development team, setting clear goals and expectations.
  • Proposal Management: Oversee the preparation and submission of construction bids and proposals, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness.
  • Client Management: Manage key client relationships, ensuring satisfaction and long-term partnerships.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports on business development activities, sales performance, and market insights.
