About The Position

This role is responsible for achieving annual sales plans and sales targets for assigned accounts. The Business Development Director will establish, nurture, and grow client relationships at appropriate levels, develop account plans and partnerships with key accounts, and provide weekly sales activity reports to management. The position involves developing a client call cycle to achieve objectives, following up on leads, and providing general intelligence on key competitors. The Director will sell the business unit’s capabilities and differentiation frameworks, recognize and communicate sales opportunities for other business units, and set and manage customer expectations. Collaboration with companywide resources is essential to achieve superior customer satisfaction. The role includes organizing and hosting client visits, evaluating quotations for the territory, and providing inputs to ensure client and company requirements are met. Utilizing SFDC to manage internal communication and document territory and client information is required. The Director will be responsible for Opportunity Management and accurate pipeline forecasting. Effective collaboration with sales executives from other Fortrea units is crucial for bringing potential opportunities to their attention and identifying/winning multi-unit projects. Assisting in determining margins and pricing with Client Services and participating in proposal scope development are also key responsibilities. Maintaining frequent personal contact with clients, participating in corporate teams to build relationships with key accounts, and leading client presentations are expected. Client responsibilities may include domestic, regional, or transatlantic scope. The role supports an established client base where appropriate.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in life science or business field preferred.
  • Advanced industry knowledge.
  • Demonstrated client retention skills.
  • Ability to manage difficult client and/or financial situations.
  • Ability to differentiate Fortrea from competitors.
  • Strong working relationship with internal Fortrea management and site leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to acquire and grow client base.
  • 4+ years sales (or relevant) experience selling services directly to the pharmaceutical and biotech section with direct interaction with mid-level and executive level decision makers.
  • English Required (Speaking, Writing/Reading).
