About The Position

The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) provides highway safety and security through excellence in service, education, and enforcement. With a workforce of approximately 4,500 employees throughout the state, the Department is leading the way to A Safer Florida through the efficient and professional execution of its core mission: the issuance of driver licenses, vehicle tags and titles, and operation of the Florida Highway Patrol. As a Business Consultant I, you will serve as a Department liaison to all applicants and stakeholders involved in the Third‑Party Administration of Class E Examinations. Responsibilities include reviewing, analyzing, and approving applications and contracts in accordance with Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles policies and procedures outlined in section 322.56, Florida Statutes. You will also assist with the research, development, implementation, and monitoring of laws, rules, and regulations related to Florida driver education. Additionally, this position manages performance bonds, contract renewals, insurance requirements, compliance with Florida Department of Law Enforcement standards, and driver license record reviews.

  • Ability to utilize problem solving and decision-making techniques.
  • Ability to work with and maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with others.
  • Knowledge of Driver License laws, policies and procedures.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or lawfully authorized alien worker.
  • Must provide identification and proof of U.S. citizenship or authorization to work.
  • Must provide proof of registration with the Selective Service System or documentation verifying exemption status (for male applicants).
  • Must submit to a fingerprint-based background investigation, including a check of FBI criminal history records.
  • Must be able to pass a Level 2 background check and Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) clearance.

  • Fluent in Spanish (Read, Write and Speak).
  • Associate’s degree (or higher) from an accredited college or university.
