About The Position

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Staff Computer Systems Architect to serve as the Business Capability Architect for an enterprise-focused capability portfolio. The role owns current-state and target-state architecture across Human Capital Management, Supply Chain Management, Financial Management, Portfolio and Project Management, Business Acquisition, and Enterprise Management. It is part of Strategy and Architecture within the Governance & Strategy organization in the Chief Information & Digital Office, and spans organizational boundaries, solution portfolios, and enabling functions rather than focusing on a single project or system. The architect guides capability evolution and connects related processes, data, platforms, controls, and integration patterns into a coherent capability roadmap. The position is available as a virtual telecommuter role, with the incumbent required to live within 90 miles of a major Northrop Grumman location for ad hoc onsite meetings. Travel is 10% of the time. No relocation assistance is available. A Secret clearance is not required to start, but the employee must be able to obtain and maintain one as a condition of continued employment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related field and 12+ years of relevant experience; alternatively, a Master’s degree with 10+ years or a Ph.D. with 8+ years.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret-level security clearance as a condition of continued employment.
  • Strong experience in business capability architecture, enterprise business systems, ERP-centered or shared-services environments, planning and control processes, or complex cross-functional portfolios.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across organizational boundaries and connect target-state design to delivery planning and operational outcomes.
  • Experience creating roadmaps, patterns, and architecture guidance across multiple solutions, systems, or services.
  • Strong stakeholder-management and influence skills across business and technology organizations.
  • Ability to act as both a strategist and practical architectural guide for a capability area spanning multiple related business capabilities.
  • Experience in regulated, security-conscious, or compliance-driven environments.
  • Knowledge of TOGAF ADM or other architecture frameworks.
  • Strong knowledge of the Aerospace and Defense business domain.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in enterprise, business, domain, or capability architecture roles.
  • Experience supporting human capital, supply chain, finance, ERP-enabled governance, portfolio and project management, acquisition, or enterprise-management processes.
  • Experience in defense, aerospace, federal, or similarly regulated environments.
  • Experience mentoring delivery architects while maintaining common architecture standards.
  • Ability to connect business capability planning with operational execution, modernization investments, and enterprise performance outcomes.
  • Experience working with matrixed stakeholders across strategy, finance, HR, supply chain, acquisition, PMO, cybersecurity, applications, infrastructure, and analytics functions.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Business Capability Architect for the combined enterprise-focused portfolio spanning Human Capital Management, Supply Chain Management, Financial Management, Portfolio and Project Management, Business Acquisition, and Enterprise Management.
  • Define and maintain current-state and target-state architecture for supported enterprise-focused capabilities across the enterprise.
  • Develop capability roadmaps spanning multiple systems, services, products, and initiatives.
  • Translate enterprise standards, architecture methods, and target-state direction into capability-specific architecture guidance.
  • Identify dependencies, sequencing needs, reuse opportunities, and trade-offs across ERP-adjacent, planning, reporting, governance, control, and shared-enterprise management landscapes.
  • Guide solution and delivery teams to advance a coherent target state rather than optimize locally.
  • Partner with stakeholders across business and technology functions to improve alignment in enterprise-focused decisions.
  • Support enterprise decision-making by clarifying capability outcomes, process implications, data dependencies, control requirements, reporting needs, and operating-model impacts.
  • Escalate enterprise-level standards conflicts, investment trade-offs, and cross-capability issues to the Business Architecture Lead and Chief Enterprise Architect as appropriate.
