About The Position

Responsible for the development and enhancement of banking relationships within assigned Market for individual production, as well as direct reports. This role involves supervising the day-to-day activities of the direct report team, including coaching and joint calling, and providing guidance and mentoring for team members in developing new banking relationships, servicing existing clients, and achieving assigned goals. The position also includes mentoring and training new business bankers, coaching the team to provide advice in complex situations, and leading relationship with Marketing to drive business via community events. The role requires active business development to identify prospects, networking with centers of influence, and maintaining strong relationships with other line partners. It also serves as a liaison for the line of business to support customer acquisition, pipeline management, and interaction with operations and support areas. The Business Banking Team Leader interviews customers, analyzes financial data, maintains an aggressive calling program, assists other Business Development Officers, and participates in community affairs. The role provides feedback to senior managers based on market and customer trends, develops a network of referral professionals, and manages the banker prospect pipeline. Additionally, it assists the Director of Business Banking with strategy development and implementation, ensures project/department milestones are met, and handles customer inquiries and problem-solving. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and as a team player are essential. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as required.

Requirements

  • Requires a four-year college degree or equivalent, plus specialized training.
  • Major or area of specialization: Finance/Accounting.
  • Requires ten plus years of general business experience, with five to ten years specialized lending, management and small business banking experience in small business credit and lending.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the mentoring and training of new business bankers.
  • Coaches team to provide advice to clients in complex, challenging, or important situations.
  • Leads relationship with Marketing to drive business via community events.
  • Carries out a variety of business development activities to identify bank prospects and networks with centers of influence and other referral sources.
  • Maintains a close working relationship with other line partners in order to develop new business.
  • Acts as a liaison on behalf of the line of business to support the acquisition and pipeline management of customers, and interaction with the operations and support areas of the Bank.
  • Interviews customers and prospective customers and prepares documentation to acquire information concerning a customer’s business needs, abilities, and earnings for all business lines including: Collecting and analyzing financial data for proper account structure.
  • Maintaining aggressive calling program for new and existing customers.
  • Assisting other Business Development Officers in generating business.
  • Attending and participating in community affairs to promote the bank’s image.
  • Provides feedback and advisement based on market and customer trends to senior managers.
  • Develops and maintains a network of referral professionals such as attorneys, realtors, developers, and financial advisors.
  • Manages or coaches to the management of banker prospect pipeline derived from all other areas of the bank, as well as courthouse lists, referrals from prospects, and prospect lists.
  • Assists Director of Business Banking with development and implementation of department/market strategy and management.
  • Ensures project/department milestones/goals are met.
  • Receives and responds to various customer questions and solves customer problems.
  • Maintains a good working relationship with bank employees.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently, as well as motivated to work as a team player to contribute to the success of the department and in turn, the organization.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as required.
