About The Position

The Business Banking Center Manager is responsible for the efficient organization and management of the Business Banking Center’s workflow, credit approvals, problem resolution, and personnel management. This role ensures effective utilization of systems like the origination system (B2B) and the portfolio management system (Risk Advisor), and guarantees work is processed in compliance with all applicable regulations and policies. The manager develops and produces reports to monitor compliance and service level agreements, taking action to ensure adherence. They will advise, counsel, coach, and instruct the Business Banking Center (BBC) staff, perform human resources functions (hiring, monitoring productivity and performance, performance reviews), and interact with Business Banking and branch relationship managers on loan underwriting issues. This includes deciding on appeals of credit decisions and requests for policy exceptions. The role directly impacts the Bank’s customer service and market competitiveness through efficient turnaround times and positively impacts profitability by minimizing delinquency and loan losses through prudent credit decisions and correct loan structuring. The manager also interacts with the Department Manager and Credit Manager regarding credit policy, operations, reporting, and contributes to the development of new Business Banking strategies and products.

Requirements

  • 5 – 10 years banking experience required
  • 2-5 years as a Commercial Lender or Business Banker
  • Knowledge of commercial lending with strong financial analysis and accounting skills
  • In depth knowledge of small business credit scoring models and strategies are necessary
  • Strong leadership and motivations skills are essential
  • Superior written and oral communications required, including excellent presentation skills
  • Incumbent must possess knowledge of laws governing lending and compliance
  • Knowledge of Bank Credit Policy & Procedures, Government Lending Program policies and regulations
  • Strong working knowledge of loan origination systems, preferably, Baker Hill’s B2B system
  • Knowledge of personnel management policy and regulations
  • General banking background in order to identify cross sell opportunities

Responsibilities

  • Perform customary human resources functions (hiring, monitor staff productivity and performance, performance reviews, etc.).
  • Interact with Business Banking and branch relationship managers on various issues relating to loan underwriting.
  • Decide on appeals of credit decisions, requests for policy exceptions, etc.
  • Ensure the quality of the asset booked to the bank through prudent credit decisions and correct loan structuring.
  • Interacts with the Department Manager and Credit Manager regarding credit policy, operations, reporting and various other issues relating to the department.
  • Contributes to the development of new Business Banking strategies, product, etc.
  • Senior Underwriter and point person for day to day underwriting issues. Must insure Small Business Lending adherence with the Bank’s loan policy and procedures, compliance, and State and Federal regulations in multiple state environment.
  • Oversee Quality Control. Pre and Post closing review.
  • System Administrator for Bank to Business.
  • Assists in development of solutions relative to work flow improvement and policy.
  • Provide ongoing training to branch personnel. Act as support to Small Business Bankers and Branch Lenders using Bank to Business.
  • Train, mentor, develop and oversee underwriting staff. Conduct annual reviews.
  • Other duties as assigned.
