About The Position

This Business Analyst position in GAC Savannah focuses on leveraging AI and Machine Learning within finance workflows to improve decision-making speed, forecast accuracy, and process efficiency. The role involves identifying finance use cases for AI, applying AI to financial processes, and understanding AI limitations while maintaining human oversight. The analyst will also perform advanced data analysis, interpret large datasets, and convert AI outputs into actionable financial insights. Additionally, the position requires familiarity with process mining for optimization. The Business Analyst will coordinate with accounting on actual results, ensure financial statement accuracy and compliance with SARBOX, and provide in-depth analysis and reporting of operational performance against budgets and forecasts. This includes identifying and resolving risks and opportunities, and supporting operational business units with financial matters. The role also involves facilitating annual budget development, monitoring expenditures, evaluating variances, and implementing continuous process improvements within financial processes. The analyst will prepare reports on operational or strategic initiatives, analyze variances, and provide recommendations to management.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of AI, Machine Learning, and automation tools (RPA, BPA, analytics platforms)
  • Experience using digital tools within finance workflows
  • Ability to evaluate, select, and implement AI-enabled solutions
  • Understand limitations of AI and maintain “human-in-the-loop” judgment
  • Advanced data analysis (Excel, SQL, Tableau / Power BI)
  • Experience with large datasets and structured/unstructured data
  • Data interpretation and insight generation
  • Familiarity with process mining / task mining concepts for optimization
  • Bachelor's Degree Business Administration, Finance or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
  • 6 years increasing financial responsibility.
  • Working understanding of GAAP.
  • Complete understanding and application of principles, concepts, practices and standards.
  • Full knowledge of industry practices.
  • A credit history check from a national bureau will be conducted.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates annual budget development to include underlying assumptions, development of staffing and revenue/margin/expense plans to meet business targets.
  • Monitors actual expenditures against budgets and evaluates variances; generates comparative and trend analysis reports.
  • Includes identification of root causes and corrective actions.
  • Performs analysis as required to ensure accuracy of financial statements in assigned product lines.
  • Develops appropriate reporting mechanisms to communicate results in a meaningful manner to operational and financial management.
  • Continually evaluates financial process to identify and implement continuous process improvements, both in support of operations and with financial processes.
  • Capture and report savings as appropriate.
  • Analyzes financial performance versus budget/ business plan, including identification of root causes and corrective actions.
  • Prepares reports related to operational or strategic initiatives; analyzes significant variances from planned or forecasted results and provides interpretative comments and recommendations to management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Coordinate with accounting on actual results, ensuring accuracy of financial statements and compliance with SARBOX reporting requirements.
  • Provides in depth ongoing analysis and reporting of operational performance, actual performance versus budgets and forecasts, and analysis as required in support of assigned business areas, as well as understanding of and recommendations to resolve risks and opportunities.
  • Provides leadership in supporting and advising operational business units and corresponding financial management on business area financial matters.
  • Identify finance use cases for AI (forecasting, anomaly detection, automation).
  • Apply AI to improve speed of decision-making, accuracy of forecasts, and process efficiency.
  • Convert AI outputs into actionable financial insights.
