About The Position

The School of Medicine at Simon Fraser University is establishing a new medical school in Surrey, B.C., with a vision for a medical education system focused on team-based learning in community settings, patient-centered environments, and a curriculum that considers social, environmental, and prevention contexts. The Business Analyst, Medical Education Technology will act as a bridge between technical experts and the School of Medicine's faculty, learners, and staff. This role involves analyzing business requirements, documenting processes, developing functional specifications, and supporting project planning for technology implementation. The BA will identify opportunities for enhancements, streamline workflows, and recommend improvements using data analytics to increase operational efficiency and educational outcomes. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical reasoning, problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills, along with excellent technical documentation abilities. They should be adept at managing multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities, and possess strong communication skills for conveying information to various internal partners. Additionally, strong testing skills for full life cycle testing are required to ensure thorough evaluation of new or updated medical education technology processes. This role is suited for individuals passionate about working with enterprise-level applications in large, complex, and technically driven environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Medical Informatics or a related field and three years of related experience in business analysis, working with enterprise-level applications in large, complex, technically focused environments or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of functional analysis, quality assurance and change management best practices.
  • Familiarity with educational technology platforms commonly used in medical education.
  • Strong project management skills, with proven ability to successfully manage multiple tasks.
  • Understanding of medical education workflows, instructional design and learner needs.
  • Awareness of emerging trends in educational technology and data-driven learning strategies.
  • Strong analytical reasoning, problem-solving, time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong technical documentation skills to create detailed, accurate reports and documentation.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and competing priorities.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written and presentation) to effectively convey information to various internal partners.
  • Strong testing skills for full life cycle testing to ensure thorough evaluation of new or updated medical education technology processes.
