About The Position

The Business Analyst for Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations elicits, analyzes, specifies, and validates the business needs of stakeholders. This role interviews stakeholders and gathers and compiles user requirements to understand the technology solutions needed to support business objectives. The Business Analyst applies strong communication, analytical, and critical thinking skills to support effective technology decision-making. This role collaborates with a wide range of stakeholders and resources, including architects, product owners, subject matter experts, and business leaders. The Business Analyst identifies opportunities to leverage modern technologies to optimize and improve business processes.

Requirements

  • College diploma or university degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
  • 7+ years of progressive Business Analyst experience supporting enterprise applications, ERP platforms, digital transformation, and complex business initiatives.
  • 3+ years of experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or AX Finance and Operations, with demonstrated success supporting or delivering Dynamics 365 initiatives.
  • Proven experience managing the full business analysis lifecycle, from discovery, requirements definition, and solution design through testing, deployment, post-go-live stabilization, and benefits validation.
  • Experience working across complex enterprise application ecosystems, including ERP, finance, manufacturing, supply chain, CRM, analytics, workflow, integration, and related business platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise architecture concepts, APIs and interfaces, system integrations, data flows, master data, security, reporting, and cross-system dependencies.
  • Proven expertise in business and technical requirements analysis, elicitation, modeling, verification, validation, and requirements management methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional workshops, manage conflicting priorities, engage executive and senior stakeholders, and facilitate solution trade-off and decision-making discussions.
  • Experience developing and managing business requirements documents, functional specifications, current- and future-state process models, gap analyses, user stories, acceptance criteria, traceability matrices, decision logs, and related solution documentation.
  • Experience overseeing or supporting the design, development, testing, and implementation of enterprise software, hardware solutions, systems, or products throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or supporting user acceptance testing, defect triage, cutover, change management, post-go-live stabilization, and enterprise application governance.
  • Strong understanding of project delivery and software development lifecycle practices, including Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid methodologies.
  • Exceptional analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to exercise independent judgment, evaluate complex system issues, and create clear requirements in both technical and user-friendly language.
  • Excellent listening, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail, the ability to prioritize and perform effectively under pressure, a collaborative working style, and a strong customer service orientation.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Business Analyst for complex enterprise application initiatives, including Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations, supporting the full lifecycle from discovery, requirements, and solution design through implementation, stabilization, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with business leaders, project sponsors, architects, developers, vendors, implementation partners, and cross-functional stakeholders to define initiative scope, business objectives, expected outcomes, success metrics, and project impacts.
  • Lead requirements discovery through interviews, workshops, questionnaires, surveys, site visits, workflow storyboards, use cases, scenarios, and other techniques to identify and document business and system needs.
  • Analyze current-state business processes, identify gaps and improvement opportunities, and define future-state processes and requirements, with a focus on accounting, finance, manufacturing, automation, and other enterprise functions.
  • Translate business needs into clear and complete functional requirements, user stories, process flows, use cases, specifications, acceptance criteria, diagrams, charts, and other solution artifacts for project teams and solution providers.
  • Establish and manage requirements throughout the project lifecycle by validating completeness, consistency, comprehensibility, feasibility, business value, and conformity with organizational and technology standards.
  • Work with stakeholders and project teams to prioritize requirements, resolve conflicting needs, maintain alignment with project scope and business objectives, and ensure traceability to expected outcomes and success metrics.
  • Collaborate across departments to communicate business needs and recommend Dynamics 365 and other enterprise technology solutions that support operational, financial, and strategic objectives.
  • Evaluate enterprise solutions for business fit, scalability, integration, data, reporting, security, controls, risk, and alignment with enterprise architecture and technology standards, including collaboration with the Technical Architecture Committee.
  • Support enterprise application roadmap development and initiative prioritization, including research and evaluation of software, hardware, enhancements, technical improvements, automation opportunities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop business cases, feasibility studies, financial analyses, option assessments, and other decision-support materials for proposed initiatives, technology investments, and purchasing activities.
  • Support vendor and implementation partner activities, including solution evaluations, proposal and Statement of Work reviews, deliverable assessments, requirements clarification, and validation of proposed solutions.
  • Define and document test requirements, test cases, and acceptance criteria, and support testing, data migration, defect resolution, root-cause analysis, cutover, go-live, and post-production stabilization.
  • Support solution adoption and quality by contributing to training materials and change-readiness activities, gathering feedback from development teams, and reviewing requirements and solution documentation with peers, vendors, project teams, and stakeholders to ensure completeness, shared understanding, and correct interpretation.
