About The Position

The Business Analyst Intern will be involved in strategic planning and data analysis, including defining business requirements, collecting and analyzing monthly KPI reports, and utilizing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system data to define functional strategy. This role requires tying Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to financial reports to demonstrate departmental performance impact and suggesting solutions for performance improvement based on data collection. The intern will also focus on process definition and improvement by developing work instructions, process maps, and evaluating current business processes to align organizational structure with employee responsibilities and management expectations. A key aspect is refining existing processes to enhance KPI results and achieve organizational goals. Furthermore, the intern will develop universal operational and business models, standardize processes across various product lines and divisions, and integrate functional strategy with the broader business vision set by upper management. The position also involves considering and partnering with IT for solutions, understanding implementation requirements, and assisting in maintaining IT project schedules to minimize delays and maximize return on investment.

Requirements

  • Pursuing or having attained a Bachelor degree in the field of Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Accounting, or Management Information Systems with 0-2 years of related experience or 8+ years related work experience without a degree.
  • College course exposure or work experience relating to process improvement with ties to Accounting and/or Financial models.
  • College course exposure or work experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems, or products.
  • Working knowledge of network and PC operating systems.
  • Practical knowledge in importing data for use in report software, spreadsheets, graphs, and flow charts.
  • College course exposure or work experience working with Enterprise Resource Programs, including Glovia, JDE, Hyperion, Ultipro, Corptax, etc.
  • College course exposure or work experience in the operation and analysis of database hardware, software, and standards, as well as data retrieval methodologies.
  • Use of project management software.
  • Excellent understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Good analytical, mathematical, and creative problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with department managers to define business requirements and how to best measure the performance of capital and labor by department function.
  • Process or collect monthly KPI reports from department managers and analyze data for areas of improvement.
  • Utilize existing data from the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to define functional strategy.
  • Tie KPI to financial reports to illustrate the impact of departmental performance.
  • Understand data collection, resulting heuristics, and suggest solutions on how to improve performance.
  • Identify and develop work instructions or process maps for functional tasks.
  • Evaluate and understand current business processes to integrate organizational structure to employee responsibilities as well as management expectations.
  • Refine existing processes to improve KPI results and to assist meeting organizational objectives and goals.
  • Develop operational and business models that are universal regardless of product.
  • Standardize processes that may be applied across all division product lines or may be utilized at other OSI divisions.
  • Incorporate functional strategy into the grand vision for business strategy sought after by upper management (i.e. Vice President or General Manager).
  • Consider IT solutions where applicable.
  • Partner with IT business system analysts for developing IT solutions for process improvements and technology changes.
  • Understand implementation requirements and potential impact to business when proposing or modifying live IT systems.
  • Assist in maintaining IT project schedules to minimize delays in production and maximize return on IT investments.
