About The Position

RBC’s Chief Audit Executive (CAE) group provides independent, objective assurance and advisory services designed to add value and improve the organization’s operations. Our work spans the entire enterprise, offering a unique, end-to-end view of RBC’s businesses, risks, and strategic priorities. This co-op offers a consulting-style experience within Internal Audit, where you will work on a diverse set of strategic, analytical, and problem-solving initiatives beyond traditional audit planning/execution. You will be exposed to real business challenges, ambiguous problem statements, and senior leadership perspectives—mirroring the experience of an internal consultant operating at the function level. This role is ideal for students who enjoy ambiguity, thrive in fast-paced environments, and are excited by the opportunity to influence decisions through insights and storytelling.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program (Business, Accounting, Finance, Analytics, Strategy, or a related field)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and a high degree of initiative
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create clear, compelling presentations
  • Proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint (or similar tools)
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting
  • Ability to challenge the status quo and think outside the box to develop solutions.
  • Must be returning back to school after the work term end-date; or if graduating immediately after the work term, the full work term must be a mandatory component to graduate successfully.

Nice To Haves

  • Interest in Internal Audit, evolving technology, consulting, or enterprise strategy
  • Previous co-op or project-based experience
  • Exposure to analytics, strategy, operations, or business transformation initiatives
  • Experience in stakeholder management, understanding user needs, and presenting insights to non-technical or senior audiences

Responsibilities

  • Work on a variety of project-based initiatives supporting Internal Audit leadership, including strategy, process improvement, analytics, and transformation-related work
  • Tackle ambiguous and evolving problem statements, applying structured thinking to develop clear insights and recommendations
  • Conduct research and analysis across business units, risk areas, and processes to identify themes, trends, and improvement opportunities
  • Design, develop and own process improvements enabled by technology and AI
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop innovative ways to solve challenges within the CAE Group
  • Build executive presentations, develop strategy, and communicate business value of projects
