About The Position

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking a Business Advisor, Data & Analytics to join the Enterprise Business Analytics Team. This role involves examining and interpreting organizational data to provide insights for strategic decision-making, enhancing data-driven processes, identifying trends, and improving business operations. The position requires collaboration with partners to gather data requirements, building data models, generating reports and visualizations using various analytical tools, and ensuring data accuracy and integrity. The role also involves staying updated on industry developments in data analytics and business intelligence, and adhering to health and safety requirements. This work is framed within VCH’s commitments to Indigenous Cultural Safety, Anti-Racism, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, and Planetary Health.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ recent, related experience in data analysis, business analytics, or a similar role.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply data modelling, analysis, and visualization techniques in a business context.
  • Proven experience in data analysis, business analytics, or a similar role.
  • Advanced proficiency in analytical tools and software (e.g., SQL, Python, R, Tableau, Power BI).
  • Knowledge of database systems like MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MS SQL.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think analytically.
  • Familiarity with machine learning algorithms and predictive modeling, capable of applying these techniques to forecast trends and inform strategic decisions.
  • Strong understanding of data privacy and security principles, especially relevant in the healthcare industry, to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data into understandable insights and recommendations for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in stakeholder management, with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with various departments and communicate complex data insights to non-technical audiences effectively.
  • A collaborative team player with a proven track record of working effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy and quality.
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with key internal and external partners to promote and enhance services provided with sensitivity to diversity and indigenous lens.
  • Practices the recognition, inclusion and support of all types and aspects of diversity at all stages of engagement, with an understanding of the issues faced by people from equity-deserving groups.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
