About The Position

Reporting to the Manager, Data & Analytics, the Business Advisor is an intermediate-level role, and examines and interprets organizational data to unlock valuable insights to inform strategic decision-making. The Business Advisor supports the department’s mission to enhance data-driven decision processes, identify meaningful trends, and contribute significantly to the improvement of our business operations. This work is framed within VCH’s commitments to our pillars of Indigenous Cultural Safety, Anti-Racism, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, and Planetary Health.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ recent, related experience in data analysis, business analytics, or a similar role.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply data modelling, analysis, and visualization techniques in a business context.
  • Advanced proficiency in analytical tools and software (e.g., SQL, Python, R, Tableau, Power BI).
  • Knowledge of database systems like MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MS SQL.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think analytically.
  • Familiarity with machine learning algorithms and predictive modeling, capable of applying these techniques to forecast trends and inform strategic decisions.
  • Strong understanding of data privacy and security principles, especially relevant in the healthcare industry, to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data into understandable insights and recommendations for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in stakeholder management, with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with various departments and communicate complex data insights to non-technical audiences effectively.
  • A collaborative team player with a proven track record of working effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy and quality.
  • Practices the recognition, inclusion and support of all types and aspects of diversity at all stages of engagement, with an understanding of the issues faced by people from equity-deserving groups.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
