About The Position

This is a senior-level position for a Bus Technician at HOLT Truck Centers. The role involves diagnosing, repairing, reconditioning, and adjusting key systems and components of buses and related equipment. Senior technicians generally have more than six years of experience and demonstrated job-relevant knowledge and skills. A level three technician possesses broad knowledge of standard technical concepts, practices, and procedures in the field, relying on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. The incumbent performs a variety of standard, complex, and technical tasks, is self-starting, and requires minimal supervision. This role is expected to model HOLT's mission and core business values, collaborate with key resources, and participate in ongoing self-development.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, accreditation from a technical school or an applicable skilled trades program required
  • Minimum of three years of experience required
  • Has met HDSI requirements for preceding Technician levels
  • Ability to model and teach Holt’s VBL Culture
  • On-going Safety Training required
  • Experience working on buses and required certifications
  • Ability to meet all requirements as outlined in Leveling Description Guide to include; Basic Requirements, Electrical System, Engine Systems, and Rear Differential
  • Ability to meet all technical and performance requirements for a level one and level two technician
  • Extensive knowledge of equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Expert knowledge and proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and electronic systems diagnostic tooling

  • Must own and maintain the necessary tools to efficiently perform the job
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record

Responsibilities

  • Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT's Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission
  • Troubleshoots and diagnoses complex engine malfunctions and failures with direction and minimum supervision
  • Performs detailed engine and related equipment repairs on trucks and trailers with direction and minimum supervision
  • Disassembles, inspects, determines parts required, and reassembles to factory specifications within TRGs
  • Provides quality control/assurance inspections of completed tasks to include road testing
  • Uses computers and related software to assist in diagnosing and reprogramming engines
  • Completes documentation for service reports, timecards, parts requisition and returns
  • Interprets and utilizes information from operating, maintenance, online resources, and service manuals/bulletins
  • Operates equipment and vehicles with possession of all necessary licenses and certificates
  • Adheres to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations
  • Maintains all company equipment, tools, and vehicle in a good, clean, and working order
  • Communicates job progress to supervisor and customer as needed
  • Works overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs
  • Projects professionalism with both internal and external customers, including personal appearance
  • Acts as a mentor and coach to lower level Technicians
  • Completes all assigned Technician Training Path courses and safety training
  • Consistently maintains an average rework of less than 0.5%
  • Ensures a positive average variance consistently
  • Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
  • Performs other duties as assigned
