About The Position

The Bus Operator delivers a safe, reliable, and enjoyable transportation experience for City Sightseeing New Orleans guests. Operating iconic red double-decker open-top buses, the operator provides transportation on sightseeing routes, charter services, and private tours. The role requires safe driving, compliance with regulations, and strong customer service to enhance the guest experience.

Requirements

Minimum 2 years of experience driving a bus or passenger vehicle with a capacity of 25 people or greater.
Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B with Passenger Endorsement.
CPNC permit issued by the City of New Orleans.
Medical Exam Certificate issued by a DOT-approved physician.
Knowledge of local traffic laws and regulations.
Ability to operate public address systems and fleet monitoring tools.
Strong verbal communication skills, including the ability to engage professionally with guests.
Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

Responsibilities

Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete required reports.
Monitor passenger safety and enforce onboard policies professionally.
Follow safety and emergency procedures and promptly report incidents.
Operate tour buses safely and courteously in accordance with traffic laws.
Maintain a smooth, steady pace to match guided-tour timing.
Follow designated routes and maintain accurate schedules.
Greet and assist passengers boarding and exiting the bus.
Verify tickets and ensure guests have valid passes.
Provide general tourist information and respond professionally to guest inquiries.
Manage guest complaints and escalate issues when necessary.
Coordinate with Tour Hosts to synchronize the tour experience.
Report vehicle or operational issues to the Route Manager in a timely manner.
Communicate scheduling or operational concerns to management.
