About The Position

The Bus Operator delivers a safe, reliable, and enjoyable transportation experience for City Sightseeing New Orleans guests. Operating iconic red double-decker open-top buses, the role provides transportation along sightseeing routes, charter services, and private tours. It requires strong driving abilities, compliance with safety regulations, and excellent customer service to enhance the guest experience.

Requirements

At least 2 years of experience driving a bus or passenger vehicle with a capacity of 25 or more people.
Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B with Passenger Endorsement.
CPNC permit issued by the City of New Orleans.
Medical Exam Certificate issued by a DOT-approved physician.
Knowledge of local traffic laws and regulations.
Ability to operate public address systems and fleet monitoring tools.
Strong verbal communication skills and ability to engage professionally with guests.
Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

Responsibilities

Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete required reports.
Monitor passenger safety and enforce onboard policies clearly and professionally.
Follow safety and emergency procedures and promptly report incidents.
Operate tour buses safely and courteously while complying with traffic laws.
Maintain a smooth, steady pace aligned with the guided tour schedule.
Follow designated routes and maintain accurate schedules.
Greet and assist passengers as they board and exit the bus.
Verify tickets and ensure guests have valid passes.
Provide general tourist information and respond professionally to guest inquiries.
Manage guest complaints and escalate issues when necessary.
Coordinate with Tour Hosts to synchronize the tour experience.
Promptly report vehicle or operational issues to the Route Manager.
Communicate with management about scheduling or operational concerns.
