About The Position

Lanteris Space Systems is seeking a Bus Electronics Hardware Engineer to join our Bus Electronics Design team, located in San Jose, CA. This is an on-site position. We are building upon our 60+ year legacy of innovation to tackle next-generation challenges and missions. Our spacecraft span pLEO to deep space, enabling national defense, earth observation & communications, and interplanetary space exploration such as NASA’s Psyche Discovery Program and SR-1 Freedom mission to Mars. As a Bus Electronics Hardware Engineer, you will be working hands-on with the electronic hardware that powers Lanteris’s reputable, reliable, high-powered spacecraft, including solar array power conversion, battery electronics, electronic propulsion, and avionics units. This role will focus on development, integration, and test of new product development, and support of flight heritage equipment. You will also be the main point of contact for leading the resolution of production non-conformances. This is an exciting, hands-on opportunity to contribute to the success of current and future Lanteris Space Systems missions.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, mathematics, computer science or a related field, with 2 years of experience minimum
  • Exposure to design, test, and simulation of electrical hardware (analog, digital, and/or power electronics).
  • Proficiency reading circuit schematics, board layouts, assembly drawings, equipment manuals, etc.
  • Hands-on experience with proper measurement and troubleshooting techniques for electronic circuits in a lab environment with lab equipment.
  • Self-motivated, attention to detail, with proactive problem-solving and communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of relevant experience, including electrical engineering designs through the full lifecycle
  • Proficiency in the design, simulation, analysis, and test of analog and power electronics circuits, including isolated and non-isolated DC/DC converters.
  • Proficiency in the design, simulation, analysis, and test of digital electronics circuits, such as microprocessors, microcontrollers, FPGA, System on Chip; high speed communication.
  • Experience with Hardware In The Loop testing.
  • Experience with circuit stress, derating, and worst-case analysis.
  • Experience collaboratively working to meet the concerns of adjacent disciplines, such as thermal, mechanical, reliability, manufacturing, and test.
  • Knowledge of Design for excellence (DFX).

Responsibilities

  • Proactive ownership of hardware through design, production, and satellite integration.
  • Support the design, analysis, and test of electronic hardware for use in spacecraft applications.
  • Technical support for manufacturing and test of bus electronics hardware, and effectively troubleshoot and document root cause investigations.
  • Write test plans/reports and conduct testing for Engineering Development, Qualification, Highly Accelerated Life Testing (HALT).
  • Collaborate with entire cross-functional team to drive project success.
  • Support Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR), Critical Design Reviews (CDR), Technical Interchange Meeting (TIM), with customers and internal stakeholders.
