Requirements

  • High school education or the equivalent required.
  • Must possess a valid NH CDL-B with passenger and air brake endorsements and maintain a current DOT medical card.
  • Must complete driver training courses within the required timeframe and have obtained a Certificate of Completion (Defensive Driving, Passenger Assistance and Emergency Evacuation).
  • At least 1 year of bus driving experience, including transporting passengers.
  • Must have the ability to be polite and courteous at all times in dealing with passengers and negotiating traffic.
  • Using own discretion in operating during adverse weather conditions and informing immediate supervisor of such conditions.
  • Reporting incidents/accidents as soon as they occur to the immediate supervisor, Director or proper authorities, and adhering to all emergency procedures.
  • Reporting breakdowns to your dispatcher and immediate supervisor while adhering to breakdown procedures.
  • Must comply with Agency policies on undergoing criminal record checks with the Bureau of Elder and Adult Services and NH Department of Safety Division of State Police.
  • Must pass Agency Drug & Alcohol pre-employment testing to be qualified.
  • Required to participate in random drug and alcohol testing as established by Agency Drug & Alcohol policies for safety sensitive employees.
  • Must have a reliable source of transportation to be used in fulfilling the responsibilities of the position and meet insurance requirements.
  • Must maintain Department of Motor Vehicle records that is compliant with the loss control requirements established by the Agency’s insurance carrier.

Responsibilities

  • Operating buses in the provision of transportation services to passengers of the Concord Area Transit, with regard to their safety, confidence and comfort.
  • Obey all applicable local, State and Federal laws and regulations.
  • Operating the vehicle maintaining high safety standards and passenger confidence.
  • Following established route and schedule in a timely manner.
  • Being responsible for accurate communication pertaining to changes in passenger itinerary and operating in accordance with route cancellation procedures.
  • Records and reports transportation data, as required.
  • Being responsible for operating proper communications of the two-way radio system.
  • Maintaining proper vehicle appearance and cleanliness, inside and out, including possessing sensitivity to vehicle performance and limitations.
  • Assisting passengers with disabilities.
  • Trains substitute drivers as requested.
