About The Position

The School Bus Driver for Benton-Carroll-Salem Local Schools is responsible for providing safe, reliable, and efficient transportation for students to and from school, extracurricular events, and field trips. This position ensures compliance with Ohio Department of Education and district safety standards while fostering a positive and respectful environment for all passengers.

Requirements

Valid Ohio School Bus Driver's License
CDL Class B with P & S endorsements
Clean driving record
Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
High school diploma or GED
First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)

Nice To Haves

Experience driving a school bus
Experience working with children
Knowledge of special needs transportation procedures

Responsibilities

Safely operate a school bus in accordance with Ohio laws, ODE/ODPS regulations, and district policies.
Transport students along assigned routes and to district-approved activities.
Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify the safe operating condition of the bus.
Maintain student discipline and enforce bus safety rules to ensure a secure environment.
Communicate courteously and effectively with students, parents, staff, and administrators.
Promptly report accidents, incidents, or unsafe conditions to the Transportation Director.
Maintain accurate and timely records (e.g., inspection logs, route sheets, incident reports).
Attend and participate in all mandatory safety meetings and training sessions.
Provide assistance to students with special needs during boarding and exiting when required.
