About The Position

Petaluma City Schools is hiring a Bus Driver Trainee in its Transportation department. The position is 0.75 FTE, working Monday through Friday for 30 hours per week, averaging six hours per day. The schedule is split between 6:30 AM–9:30 AM and 1:30 PM–4:30 PM. Spanish bilingual ability is preferred but not required. Successful bilingual or American Sign Language applicants receive a monthly stipend of $96, prorated for positions under 40 hours per week. Employment is contingent on fingerprint clearance, tuberculosis-free evidence, a post-offer/pre-placement physical, and DMV driver-record clearance. The employee is responsible for the fingerprint processing fee. Applicants must submit a current DMV H-6 report and the listed driving credentials with their application. A cover letter, resume, and recommendation letters are recommended but not required.

Requirements

Must have an appropriate California operator’s license issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles.
Fingerprint clearance is required; the employee pays a fingerprint processing fee after the offer and before placement.
Must submit evidence of being free from tuberculosis in accordance with Education Code 49406.
Must pass a post-offer/pre-placement physical.
Must receive DMV driver-record clearance.
Must include a current DMV H-6 report with the application.
Air brake and passenger endorsements, a commercial license, first aid, and a school bus driver certificate are required with the application.
