About The Position

Arcadis is seeking dedicated, creative, and energetic candidates for a Buried Infrastructure Specialist role to support their Pennsylvania team, with a preference for candidates located in or near Allentown, PA. This position focuses on sanitary/environmental engineering, particularly in buried infrastructure and conveyance disciplines such as water distribution, sewer systems, pumping, storage, and treatment systems. The role involves a combination of office work, fieldwork, and travel, with approximately 75% of responsibilities being field-oriented. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, works well independently and in teams, and possesses strong communication and leadership skills. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline or construction management.
  • Technical skills including Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, and GIS.
  • Physical ability to lift/carry heavy equipment and perform rigorous field investigations.
  • Willingness to work in an office and field environment with an emphasis on fieldwork.
  • Willingness to travel locally and regionally.
  • Eagerness to learn and perform a wide variety of engineering and construction skills.
  • Valid US driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Willingness to travel for field or project assignments.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to responsibly manage multiple unique assignments with varying deadlines and stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with condition assessment, construction management, renewal and/or rehabilitation design, especially trenchless construction methods.
  • Experience with hydraulic modeling.
  • Experience in municipal and industrial systems.
  • Prior experience with infrastructure inspection, rehabilitation, design, and/or construction.
  • Experience/training with AutoCAD and/or ArcGIS.
  • H&S Training including HAZWOPER Certification, Confined Space Entry, and/or OSHA 30-hr Construction Site Safety.
  • Willingness to travel nationally for short- and medium-term assignments.
  • EIT, with a desire to obtain PE.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct fieldwork including construction engineering and infrastructure condition assessment techniques.
  • Perform conceptual to detailed design and prepare contract documents for municipal, industrial, and remedial water/wastewater treatment units, water/sewer force mains, sewer gravity mains, and pump stations.
  • Interpret flow monitoring data and conduct data management activities.
  • Integrate GIS for modeling.
  • Analyze data and develop recommendations for infrastructure renewal.
  • Plan and implement renewal projects.
  • Engage in field activities such as construction inspection, inflow and infiltration studies, sampling, asset inventory, and condition assessment.
  • Perform confined space entry, subcontractor oversight, and flow monitoring setup.
  • Communicate regularly, verbally and in writing, with staff, clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
  • Prepare progress reports and participate in client meetings.
  • Oversee the construction of designed works with field contractors.
  • Enter confined spaces (i.e., manholes) to perform field activities and inspections after training.
