About The Position

The Bulk Dock Operator is responsible for unloading incoming sugar and molasses from rail cars. The role is based in Buffalo, NY, pays $21 per hour, and requires the ability to work 12-hour shifts and various shifts as needed. Fridays, weekends, holidays, and overtime may be required, with weekend shifts potentially mandated based on business needs. The position also assists elsewhere in the plant when needed and requires regular, predictable attendance.

Requirements

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work 12-hour shifts.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, and overtime as needed.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED.
Prior packaging experience.

Responsibilities

Operate pay loaders and forklifts.
Move rail cars into and out of the building according to established procedures and perform required checks.
Install transition chutes and open rail cars, including heavy lifting.
Clean empty rail cars using supplied tools.
Clean sugar spills caused during work and maintain the bulk dock and third-floor sugar processing area.
Inspect magnets and sifters daily.
Watch for product contamination and report contamination or dangerous issues to a shift supervisor or management.
Complete department paperwork accurately.
Take rail-car samples to Quality Control for color analysis.
Follow company dress and conduct policies and Good Manufacturing Procedures when handling product and cleaning equipment.
Assist with plant cleaning as required.
Check the second-floor non-edible tote daily and change it as needed.
Obtain rail-car inventory from tracks 1 and 2 daily.
Maintain food safety, authenticity, legality, and quality.
Report risks or evidence of unsafe or out-of-specification product, equipment, packaging, or raw materials to a designated manager for immediate resolution.
Assist elsewhere in the plant when and where needed.
Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
