About The Position

Join CTECS as a Buildings and Grounds Patrol Officer and play a vital role in maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors across our campus. In this position, you will help protect school property by monitoring buildings and grounds, enforcing parking and traffic regulations, conducting vehicle and foot patrols, and responding to security concerns. You'll also serve as a valuable resource by assisting visitors, providing security escorts, administering first aid when needed, and supporting daily operations through dispatching and recordkeeping. Position Highlights: Part-time | 35 hours per week | 1st Shift Monday – Friday | 6:45 am – 2:15 pm This is a 10-month position, returning to work once school resumes following the summer break. Permanent part-time employees are eligible for benefits and accrue paid time off according to the number of house worked.

Requirements

  • Any experience or training which would provide the skills and abilities indicated above
  • Incumbents in this class may be required to possess and retain a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's license.
  • Incumbents in this class may be required to obtain and maintain a Standard First Aid Certificate and/or CPR certification.
  • General good health, be free from any disease or injury which would impair health or usefulness and possess and retain sufficient physical strength, stamina, agility, endurance and visual and auditory acuity required to perform all the duties of the class.
  • Applicants may be required to pass a physical examination.

Responsibilities

  • Enforces regulations relating to parking and traffic control as established by assigned agency
  • Directs traffic on state property
  • Issues tickets for violations
  • Gives information and assistance to visitors
  • Guards entrances and exits to prevent trespass, vandalism, theft and other violations
  • Performs routine vehicle and foot patrol duty and monitors security and alarm systems to detect theft and other criminal acts
  • Provides security escorts
  • Provides first aid when necessary
  • Performs dispatching and record keeping functions at a desk post
  • At a state hospital, assists in maintaining order among patients
  • Assists in searching for missing patients
  • At an agency or institution, may oversee the activities of fellow officers as designated
  • May assist in fire prevention and fire fighting activities
  • Performs related duties as required
