About The Position

Aeon is seeking a Building Technician to maintain clean, safe, and welcoming environments at Chicago Avenue and Buri Manor in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This hands-on role focuses primarily on cleaning and property upkeep, with groundskeeping, trash removal, apartment turns, and basic maintenance responsibilities. The technician is expected to take pride in their work, notice and address needs, and manage daily responsibilities with limited direction. This is a full-time, in-person position scheduled Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with no on-call responsibilities. Flexibility may be needed for resident events, community activities, meetings, or other property-related responsibilities. The role is based at the assigned properties, with occasional work at Aeon’s Central Office, training facilities, or other properties. The Building Technician reports directly to the Property Manager.

Requirements

At least 1 year of professional cleaning or janitorial experience is strongly preferred.
Ability to complete cleaning, groundskeeping, trash removal, and basic maintenance work independently and efficiently.
Strong attention to detail, follow-through, and problem-solving skills, and willingness to learn.
Ability to communicate and work respectfully with residents, coworkers, partners, and others from different backgrounds and experiences.

Ability to respond quickly to sights and sounds that may pose a threat to people or property.

Responsibilities

Keep hallways, community spaces, offices, restrooms, and other shared areas clean, sanitary, and welcoming.
Perform routine cleaning, including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting, sanitizing, and cleaning glass and other building surfaces.
Monitor property conditions throughout the day and address cleaning and upkeep needs as they arise.
Collect and remove trash from common areas, grounds, and designated areas; keep dumpster and trash areas clean.
Pick up litter and debris and maintain entrances, walkways, and exterior areas.
Perform routine groundskeeping and other outdoor property upkeep.
Assist with seasonal work, including light snow removal and salting or sanding walkways.
Complete basic maintenance tasks such as snaking toilets, changing light bulbs and furnace filters, replacing smoke detector batteries, and installing blinds.
Prepare vacant apartments for new residents by completing assigned cleaning and minor repair work.
Identify maintenance or property concerns and communicate needs requiring additional repair or support.
Complete assigned work in a timely manner and keep the Property Manager informed of issues that may affect the property or residents.
Conduct property tours and inspections through hallways, stairwells, leasing offices, common areas, and vacant or occupied apartments.
