About The Position

Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort is seeking a Building Systems Operator to operate and maintain central energy plants. This role involves managing equipment such as centrifugal chillers, marine boilers, condensing water heaters, heat exchangers, pumps, diesel generators, and electrical switch gear. The operator will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, thermodynamic, and control system malfunctions, as well as performing basic maintenance on various HVAC components. A key part of the role includes utilizing computer systems for building automation, fire alarm, and work order management, including changing set points, scheduling equipment, trending variables, and managing alarms. The operator will also conduct routine inspections to ensure optimal energy efficiency and maintain detailed records of all maintenance and repairs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Four years operator/maintenance experience performing PM’s, troubleshooting and repairs in a commercial, industrial or institutional facility on chillers, pumps, air handlers, boilers, generators, etc. required.
  • Valid driver’s license with no suspended, denied or revoked driver’s license within the last 3 years required.
  • Understanding of chilled and hot water systems.
  • Understanding of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning, (HVAC), operation to include theory of operation and controls.
  • The ability to use test equipment including, but not limited to, multi-meters, temperature and pressure probes, and circuit tracers.
  • Basic understanding of electrical distribution systems, three phase and single phase, up to 600 volts.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and diagrams.
  • Ability to use technical manuals to diagnose and repair equipment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Neat, professional appearance with excellent personal hygiene.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates Degree (Technical) in related field from accredited educational institution or Trade Diploma preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain all aspects of the central energy plant and associated equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, thermodynamic and control malfunctions.
  • Perform basic maintenance on air handlers, energy wheels, fan coils and heat pumps.
  • Use computers to operate the building automation, fire alarm and work orders systems.
  • Utilize the building automation system to change set points, rotate equipment schedules, trend variables, interpolate alarms and maintain control over the systems.
  • Perform routine inspections of all HVAC, electrical and control equipment.
  • Ensure that all systems are performing at their highest level of energy efficiency.
  • Oversee fire alarm, building automation, and work order systems.
  • Maintain records of maintenance and repairs using computerized maintenance programs.
  • Abide by safety policies and report safety hazards to department manager.
  • Adhere to regulatory, departmental and company policies/procedures in an ethical manner.
