About The Position

At Queen City Academy Charter School, the Building Substitute plays a crucial role in ensuring educational continuity by stepping into classrooms when a regular teacher is absent. This position requires a consistent and familiar presence to keep learning on track across various grade levels and content areas, ensuring scholars do not miss any instructional time. The role involves implementing existing lesson plans, administering assessments, maintaining high academic and personal expectations, and fostering a safe and orderly learning environment. The Building Substitute will also leverage technology, build rapport with students, communicate effectively with staff, and participate in professional development to enhance instructional versatility and classroom management. Additionally, this role supports the administrative team with special projects and contributes to developing a school-wide culture that promotes student achievement.

Requirements

  • At least 60 credits working towards a Bachelor's degree
  • Ability to communicate with parents and students
  • Be a team player
  • Hold high expectations of students
  • Basic understanding of child development

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree and certification as appropriate
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience

Responsibilities

  • Step into classrooms across grade levels and content areas when a teacher is away.
