About The Position

The Natick Public Schools seek a Building-Based Substitute Teacher/Paraprofessional. This role involves reporting to the assigned school daily to cover teacher and para absences and perform other supervisory duties as needed. Requirements

  • BA/BS degree preferred
  • Professional Certification: not required
  • Child development knowledge
  • Understanding of and commitment to the principles and practices of diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice
  • Experience with children in a structured environment
  • Experience with Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Classroom, etc.) and PowerSchool preferred, but will train the right candidate
  • Demonstrated aptitude for work to be performed
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Candidates should have a passion for working with students, families, and colleagues
  • Candidates must be flexible and collaborative
  • Candidates must be able to multitask in a fast-paced, supportive environment that nurtures student growth

Responsibilities

  • Report to their school each day and cover teacher and para absences.
  • Perform other supervisory duties as needed.
  • Implement lesson plans and instructions as directed by the absent teacher, or consult with the principal if a lesson plan is not provided.
  • Maintain a clean, respectful, and orderly classroom, and follow classroom and school procedures as directed by the school.
  • Leave notes or complete a report for the regular teacher at the end of the teaching day.
  • Communicate in a collegial and positive manner towards parents, students, and administrators.
  • Keep records on attendance, accidents, and incidents.
  • Protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Ensure the safety of students at all times.
  • Supervise students inside and outside of the classroom.
  • Perform any other relative duties as assigned.
