About The Position

Kimley-Horn's Saint Paul, Minnesota (MN) office is seeking a Structural Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with 1.5+ years of experience to join their Building Structures team. This role involves developing skills in project management, performing structural design calculations, producing structural drawings and technical specifications, leading construction phase efforts, and supporting client meetings. The position also includes mentoring entry-level engineers.

Requirements

  • 1.5+ years of relevant engineering design experience
  • Knowledge and experience in AutoCAD and Revit, with some ability to produce drawings and details, when needed
  • Knowledge and experience in structural analysis and design software, such as RISA, RAM, E-Tabs, MathCAD, TEDDS, ADAPT PT, ENERCALC and other structural related design software
  • Strong sense of urgency and self-discipline to meet client deadlines
  • Detail-oriented team player with an ability to contribute to a positive work environment
  • Ability to multi-task and work on a variety of projects concurrently
  • Passion and demonstrated drive to achieve goals
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and technical skills with a continuous mindset on personal and staff development

Responsibilities

  • Develop skills as a project manager by assisting with the management and leading of small projects
  • Develop full sets of structural drawings and technical specifications without guidance
  • Perform structural design calculations, plan production activities, and prepare project document submittal packages, while maintaining a Quality Control program for the entire project
  • Lead and provide support for construction phase efforts on building projects in structural engineering
  • Support and participate in meetings and presentations with clients, contractors, and design team members
  • Serve as a technical and professional mentor to entry-level and developing engineers
