About The Position

The Building Service Worker performs all assigned custodial work, building setup conversions, and the setup, moving, and presentation of recreational activities, conferences, and other events in large public facilities such as the ARC, CRCE, and Ice Arena. This role is crucial for maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of Campus Recreation facilities, ensuring a positive environment for students, staff, and patrons.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of cleaning solutions and custodial methods.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow oral instructions.
  • Ability to read and follow written instructions, directions, labeling, and measurements.
  • Ability to exert muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to bend, stretch, twist, reach, and stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to perform general physical activities that require considerable use of hands, arms, legs, and moving whole body, such as climbing, lifting, walking, stooping, handling, positioning, moving materials, and manipulating items.
  • Ability to tolerate exposure to temperature extremes.
  • Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all custodial work required for the regular cleaning and upkeep of the building including floor care (wet/damp mopping, scrubbing, sweeping, vacuuming, and cleaning carpet).
  • Dust building furnishings; wash windows and other interior and exterior glass.
  • Clean and service lavatories, toilet rooms, restrooms, showers, and locker rooms.
  • Empty trash and remove cardboard for recycling.
  • Perform snow removal from access areas.
  • Operate equipment such as floor scrubbers, buffers, snow blowers, rug shampooers, and other equipment related to the maintenance and cleanliness of offices and public assembly areas.
  • Inspect, care for, and clean all maintenance and cleaning equipment.
  • Move furniture, supplies, props, or other materials and equipment, and assist in the unloading and loading of same to and from trucks as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
