About The Position

As a Building Performance Consultant Intern in our Madison office for Summer 2026, you will help us empower our clients to achieve energy-efficient building solutions, save global environments, and create a better, greener future for all. In this role, you will have the opportunity to approach design in unconventional ways, apply your knowledge while working on significant and complex projects, work alongside professionals known for advanced engineering solutions, observe how a successful engineering firm operates, establish ties that could solidify your professional future, and learn within a friendly, supportive environment.

Requirements

  • Enrollment in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering program from an ABET accredited school.
  • Completed 3 years of coursework or have a junior standing.
  • Coursework or demonstrated interest in building energy systems, HVAC design, thermodynamics, heat transfer, or building science.
  • Exposure to building energy modeling or simulation tools (e.g., EnergyPlus, OpenStudio, IESVE, eQUEST, or similar).
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5.
  • Leadership involvement in extracurricular activities/student organizations.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with building energy codes and sustainability frameworks such as ASHRAE 90.1, IECC, or LEED.
  • Experience with data analysis tools such as Excel, Python, MATLAB, or similar analytical platforms.
  • Understanding of building systems performance, including HVAC, envelope, lighting, and controls.
  • Interest in high-performance buildings, decarbonization strategies, and energy efficiency.
