About The Position

The Building Operations Supervisor is a part-time staff position responsible for cleaning assigned buildings and supporting event setup and takedown. This role involves inspecting the work of student employees, mentoring them, and teaching positive work ethics by working alongside them. The supervisor must follow all training, safety, and university policies and procedures, maintain quality customer relations, and exemplify university citizenship. They report to the Area Operations Manager and Building Operations Managers and are expected to support department-wide activities, policies, and programs. The shift is Monday - Friday, 5:00 am - 10:00 am, with Saturdays as needed.

Requirements

  • A firm commitment to the mission of BYU.
  • High school diploma or GED Equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of building care and/or supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Organizing and supervising part-time employees using approved cleaning methods and techniques to ensure the cleanliness of assigned work areas.
  • Mentoring, teaching, training, and motivating part-time and student employees while instilling a service attitude through positive work ethic examples.
  • Working directly with student crews during their shifts to assist with problems, answer questions, direct cleaning, and teach positive work ethics.
  • Maintaining and updating records as assigned.
  • Communicating and providing public relations for the buildings they service.
  • Inspecting buildings daily to check the effectiveness of cleaning crews and determine future needs.
  • Contacting building patrons as needed to determine customer satisfaction and assist with concerns or problems.
  • Maintaining complete and accurate records as assigned.
  • Improving job and leadership skills through personal development training and involvement with departmental activities.
  • Following department and university policies and procedures, supporting manager's directions, attending department functions and safety meetings, and being an excellent example of department, university, and church citizenship.
