Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred
  • ICC Certified Building Official (CBO) required; additional ICC certifications (Plans Examiner, Building Inspector) highly desirable
  • Minimum 5–7 years of progressive experience in building inspection, code enforcement, or construction management
  • Proven leadership and supervisory experience
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to solve complex code-related issues under pressure
  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills

  • ICC certifications (Plans Examiner, Building Inspector)

Responsibilities

  • Supervise building inspectors and manage inspection programs
  • Serve as a subject matter expert supporting the sales team
  • Conduct client visits as needed for complex or escalated projects
  • Administer and enforce municipal, state, and federal building codes, safety, energy, and accessibility standards
  • Oversee issuance of building permits, plan approvals, occupancy certificates, and inspection reports
  • Interpret complex codes and provide guidance to architects, engineers, contractors, and property owners
  • Collaborate with fire, planning, zoning, engineering, and public works departments for coordinated code enforcement
  • Manage appeals, code updates, and ordinance revisions
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on inspections, permitting, and code compliance
