Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of applicable state and city codes, policies, ordinances, and inspection procedures.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to plan and conduct meetings and conferences.
  • Aptitude for maintaining effective working relationships with private and public agencies, organizations, and individuals.
  • Requires Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners Plumbing Inspectors License.
  • Must possess a minimum of 2 of the International Code Council Certifications, to include but not limited to: ICC Certified Building Official (CBO), ICC Building Inspector Certificate, ICC Plans Examiner Certificate, ICC Electrical Inspector Certificate, ICC Mechanical Inspector Certificate, ICC Plumbing Inspector Certificate.
  • Must be able to obtain the ICC Certified Building Official (CBO) within one (1) year of employment if not already obtained.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prepare comprehensive technical and administrative reports.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the operations and activities of the City's Building Safety Division.
  • Planning and coordinating division functions.
  • Serving as the chief plan reviewer to ensure all construction plans and specifications meet regulatory compliance standards.
  • Responding to public inquiries regarding the building permit process and related requirements.
  • Supervising assigned personnel, guiding your team to achieve excellence in service delivery while embodying the organization's core values of problem-solving, customer-centricity, and innovation.
