A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A Deputy Building Official As a Deputy Building Official you will ensure that buildings are in-compliance with building codes and ordinances. You will perform building inspections and building plan examiner reviews which includes ensuring public health and safety; coordinate assigned activities with other divisions, outside agencies and the general public; assumes responsibilities of the Chief Building Official in the absence of same; and provides highly responsibilities and complex staff assistance to the Chief Building Official. Other duties include maintaining residential and commercial electrical, plumbing and mechanical licenses and certifications and other duties as required. You may supervise work of others and may serve as a lead worker providing direction to others. You enjoy being helpful and have no problem providing assistance and support as needed.
