About The Position

This position is responsible for the overall management and maintenance of the school building, ensuring a safe, clean, and functional environment for students, staff, and visitors. The Building Manager oversees custodial, maintenance, and groundskeeping operations, manages budgets, and ensures compliance with health and safety regulations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in building maintenance, facilities management, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire safety.
  • Understanding of cleaning and maintenance best practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical manuals.
  • Proficiency in using computer systems for record-keeping and communication.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to pass a background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Certifications in building operations or maintenance (e.g., Certified Facility Manager).
  • Experience with budget management and financial reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and direct the work of custodial, maintenance, and groundskeeping staff.
  • Develop and implement cleaning and maintenance schedules.
  • Inspect facilities to identify and address maintenance and repair needs.
  • Manage the school's budget for maintenance, repairs, and supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized services.
  • Respond to emergency situations and implement appropriate procedures.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Prepare reports on building operations, maintenance activities, and budget expenditures.
  • Ensure the security of the school premises.
