About The Position

This recruitment is for Temporary Building Maintenance Worker and Temporary Senior Building Maintenance Worker positions through UCI's internal temporary staffing department. These positions can be based out of the UC Irvine campus or any UCI Health facility throughout Orange County and Southern Los Angeles County. The Temporary Building Maintenance Worker (Temp BMW) performs unskilled building maintenance tasks on a regular and continuing basis or, under close supervision, performs as a trainee within the series. Assignments are routine in nature, requiring limited judgment. Normally receives detailed instructions on all newly assigned work and performs ongoing routine assignments with general supervision. The Temporary Senior Building Maintenance Worker (Temp Sr. BMW) performs semi-skilled building maintenance tasks on a regular and continuing basis in one or more of the trades. Works on operational and/or procedural assignments that are moderately difficult, requiring judgment in resolving procedural issues and makes recommendations to improve processes and/or procedures.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic calculations.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude (Temp BMW).
  • Basic ability to perform unskilled building maintenance work (Temp BMW).
  • 1-3 years of experience completing minor repairs, fabrication, and renovations in carpentry, electrical, and plumbing (Temp BMW).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude (Temp Sr. BMW).
  • Demonstrated ability to perform semi-skilled building maintenance work (Temp Sr. BMW).
  • 3-5 years of experience completing minor repairs, fabrication, and renovations in carpentry, electrical, and plumbing (Temp Sr. BMW).
  • Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions in English.
  • Must be able to provide proof of work authorization.

Responsibilities

  • Perform unskilled building maintenance tasks.
  • Perform as a trainee within the series under close supervision.
  • Perform semi-skilled building maintenance tasks in one or more of the trades.
  • Resolve procedural issues requiring judgment.
  • Make recommendations to improve processes and/or procedures.
  • Complete minor repairs, fabrication, and renovations in carpentry, electrical, and plumbing.
