About The Position

This is a continuous recruitment for a Building Maintenance Worker II position with the Department of Transportation, Airports Division. The role involves supervising and participating in the repair and maintenance of buildings. Responsibilities include performing skilled building maintenance repair work, planning, laying out, scheduling, and assigning tasks to other building maintenance workers based on work orders. The position requires instructing subordinates, demonstrating proper work methods, and working alongside them to set the pace and quality of work. Additionally, the role involves inspecting buildings, structures, equipment, and facilities for needed repairs, estimating material and labor costs, requisitioning materials, and inspecting work in progress and upon completion. The Building Maintenance Worker II will also make oral and written reports of work completed by the crew and perform other related duties as assigned. Applicants must be available to work rotating shifts, including evenings and weekends.

Requirements

  • Must be a citizen, national, or permanent resident alien of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
  • SIX (6) YEARS of work experience in performing a variety of building maintenance repair work, of which TWO (2) YEARS shall have been as a fully competent worker (journeyworker level), or any equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license at the time of appointment.
  • Must undergo a pre-employment fingerprint-based criminal history record check.
  • Must not have been convicted, or found "not guilty by reason of insanity," of a disqualifying criminal offense within 10 years from the date of application to obtain SIDA clearance.

Responsibilities
