The role involves supervising and participating in the repair and maintenance of buildings. In addition to performing skilled building maintenance repair work, the position plans, lays out, schedules and assigns the work of building maintenance workers from work orders received by supervisors or project managers. The role also includes instructing subordinates and demonstrating proper work methods, working alongside subordinates to set the pace and quality of work, checking and inspecting buildings, structures, equipment and facilities for needed repairs, estimating material and labor costs, requisitioning materials, inspecting work in progress and upon completion for proper quality of work, making oral and written reports of work completed by the crew, and performing other related duties as assigned.
