About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Facilities & Property Manager, this part-time position is responsible for the daily cleaning and maintenance of the building and grounds to ensure the neatness and cleanliness of the property assigned. This role performs routine repairs and maintenance of buildings, equipment, and vehicles, including minor plumbing and carpentry work, and routine grounds keeping to ensure the beautification of the landscape. The position requires the ability to meet attendance requirements, communicate in English, perform heavy lifting and strenuous work, and involves continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing. Work is performed in a shelter facility with minimal physical discomforts related to weather, noise, dust, or dirt, but requires driving a vehicle and working outdoors daily with exposure to weather conditions.

Requirements

High school diploma or G.E.D.
Valid State Driver’s License.
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
Ability to perform heavy lifting.
Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving the lifting and carrying of heavy objects.
Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.

Responsibilities

Cleans and sanitizes bathrooms; cleans sinks and toilets, polishes mirrors, and replenishes supplies.
Performs routine building maintenance activities.
Performs minor plumbing repairs required by leaking faucets and clogged toilets.
Performs carpentry work required to repair dents and/or holes in walls and paints walls.
Sweeps, vacuums, mops, buffs and waxes floors.
Keeps sidewalks clean and free of debris.
Assists the Facilities and Property Manager with major, more complex repairs and maintenance.
Drives vehicle in order to pick up materials and repair items needed for maintenance work.
